fresh turmeric and ginger
We associate ginger a lot with the fight against colds and flu and turmeric as a way to strengthen the immune system, to prevent the same conditions.
They are both herbaceous plants, of which the root or rhizome is used essentially.Turmeric (turmeric long) has, among many other benefits, an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action. As an indication to improve the release of curcuminoids and their absorption by the body, turmeric can be taken together with black pepper.
Turmeric is closely associated with gastronomy, where it acquires the name of Indian saffron, not the same as saffron, usually available in filaments.
Ginger, in addition to being indicated as promoting weight loss and promoting good digestion, also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, among other benefits.
Flavors are not always very popular, particularly the one from turmeric.
For both there are many ways you can use it, some of them manage to disguise the taste better, while other ways of using it to enhance it even more.
At Mercearia Bio, we use both in juices (in the centrifuge), in smoothies (in a blender), in salads in shavings, in teas by cutting thin slices and mixing with lemon and other ingredients.
At home, we can also use both to make sauces, including in stews and other items cooked in the stove or oven, such as roasts, in soups and not just in miso, in cakes and biscuits and many other uses, just give room for your creativity to work out.
