The Santos and Martins Family, with 4 people, recorded the least food waste with only 1,521kg per person for the 2 week period in which the challenge occurred. They left us this message:
"The Zero Waste Food Challenge launched by the Mercearia Bio has allowed us to become more aware of the organic waste we produce and how our food choices condition the amount of waste that we have brought in. On the days when we opted for vegetarian meals we not only produced less waste but we also realized that the left overs were easier to reuse the next day. With this challenge, we also realizedin, even though we are not vegetarians, by introducing more diversified vegetable-based meals with less fish and meat, we are able to waste less, pollute less and save more .. "

Second we have the Coucelo Family, with 4 People in the household, which had a cumulative waste of 2,626kg per Person.
"It was an interesting experience, because even adopting tactics to reduce waste as much as possible, we were able to visualize just how much we ended up wasting. No doubt that alternatives were created and maintained to avoid waste, which were passed on to the younger ones. care and respect for food. "

The Alemão Family, integrated by 4 people, comes next with a food waste of 2,943 kg per person and characterized its participation in the challenge with this words:
"It was fun to participate and the family was all involved and with paying attention to what was throwed in the bin."

The last of the winners of our challenge, the Vieira Family with an aggregate composed by 3 Persons and which recorded a waste of 3,687 kg per Person.
